On Friday 9th June Lightnin Drama Group entered a true life drama play into the 2006 Thurrock Drama Festival. The Rainham based drama group portrayed the effects of drugs and the consequences on both the victim and her family. The drama opens showing a happy family that deteriorates throughout the play due to the hard hitting effects of drugs.
For Lightnin Drama Group the adjudicator was immediately impressed and full of praise for all the cast, back stage crew, writing and directing. The adjudicator Mr Mike Kaiser G.O.D.A,, praised the eye to detail as well as originality and style of performance.
The final evening was Saturday the 10th June where the last two plays were performed, totalling a number of 14 acts. This was followed by a presentation award ceremony for all acts involved Lightnin Drama Group won a total of 7 awards out of a possible 9 they were best lighting, best original, best presentation, best supporting actress, best actress, best actor and overall winners for 1 act play.
On the night the conclusion from the festival organiser Mr John Scowen was “I must say that if you weren’t here last night you missed an absolutely fantastic play Fatal Addiction”. He hoped that Lightnin Drama Group will go on to attend the all England finals…. and they are !!!! The group has just received confirmation that they will attend the all England finals on 28th July in Woking. The top acts from the UK will attend throughout the week where the only awards are runners up and overall winner. With the support of the community we progressed from the school hall to the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch, which is an achievement in it’s own 
right. Our Annual productions are now viewed and enjoyed by over 1500 people, from not only the local community, the ex-mayor and current mayor but also from people further a field.
