The Crew of Lightnin’ Drama Group

Lightnin’ Drama Group is aided by voluntary helpers, some who perform and others that help with no benefits of their own. Lightnin’ drama group, would not produce such high quality productions with out their help.


Sue Ospreay - Founder of Lightnin’ and Director

Jon Tilley - Production Manager

At the age of 16, Jon became involved as a behind the scenes member, he since has participated in festival plays and is a key part of the final production. He has now been in the group for over 2 decades, so with his extensive knowledge Jon also liaises with the Director regarding scenery and script issues prior to the show.


Faye Ashton – Stage Management, Child Protection Officer, fund raising officer, first aider and props manager.

Faye was on stage for many years and subsequently studied stage management after leaving school. She has had various jobs relating to the arts including stage management at the Dome in London, she currently teaches drama at the local school. Faye has been the groups fund raising officer for many years, as a props manager she has made many things such as a giant apple pie and won a "Best Lighting" award at the Thurrock Drama Festival in 2006.


Michael Glanville – Stage Manager

Michael has had 2 sons in the show, both have come and gone on to pursue the arts as a full time career. On the night of the shows Michael supports the cast in many ways, initially he helps to set the scenery, and throughout the performance Michael is responsible for scenery changes and is a general backstage hand.


Sue Glanville – Stage Crew Manager

Sue, Michael’s wife, has supported the group for many years, she is always on hand at the side of stage and would do anything from checking the correct props are being used to tying hair and pinning costumes.


Mathew Glanville – Spot light Co-ordinate

The youngest son of Sue and Michael, both his brothers have flown the nest for the Arts University and Dancing careers. Mathew prefers to help backstage. At the age of 19 Mathew is responsible for one of the spot lights being on the correct actor/ress when it is vitally important.


Jamie Darani – Spot light Co-ordinate & Webmaster

Jamie become involved with the group 9 years ago when his younger sister Emily got involved, Jamie is responsible for one of the spot lights being on the correct actor/ress when it is vitally important as well as running the Lightnin’ Drama Group Website www.lightnin.co.uk.


Michael Bedford – Trainee sound and stage assistant

Michael initially joined the group to learn more about production and stage management. He has been on stage but is keen to assist the group behind the scenes.


Annie Elsley – Team Leader

Annie is an all round helper, she generally does the jobs that no one see’s. She drives the hire van to collect the scenery, ordering and repairing costumes, off stage directing and singing assistant and much more…


Jackie Crawford – Chorography

Predominantly Jackie would cerograph the tougher, more demanding dances of the show. She would utilize her experience to further both the children’s and adults’ potential.


Jo Jewiss and Julliet Hazelwood – make up and hair

Both are mums, with children in the group, each year they have been on hand to the show in rehearsals and subsequently they are responsible for the most wildest hair and make up requests… They generally watch snippets of their children on stage in the wings…. If they have a spare 5 mins.


Pat Saunders – Singing Coach

Pat joined the group primarily as a singing coach. With her love for music Pat has performed__. Pat has since been on stage in various productions, along with her daughter, Lauren, who has since left the group to study performing arts at University.


Alan Saunders – Sound Editor

Alan, husband of Pat Saunders, has previously had his daughter and wife attend Lightnin’ Drama Group on stage. He mixes and collates the final soundtrack for each show with additional sound / track requests.


Peter Ospreay – Scenery Manager supplied by Paul Lazell

Peter, Husband of Sue Ospeay the Director generally is only hands on the opening night of the show, he erects the scenery and checks that everything is safe and useable for the forthcoming show…. Credit where credits due, Peter is involved all year round, when he cant sit on the settee due to costumes and props, his dinner is late because Sue is busy writing. He can’t see the TV because a giant banner is in the way….. We could go on and on, but Peter is probably the most indirectly involved person in the group.


Mandy Price – Membership Secretary

Mandy is officially is the groups membership secretary, she, alike many others would deal with off stage issues leading up to the show.
